Went and saw David Gray at Hamer Hall (the Arts Centre) last night.
It was awesome.
My sis and I were second row centre. Its slightly surreal being that close, and the accoustics are a bit weird (eg most of the sound was coming from speakers behind us even though he was about three metres in front of us), and it was kinda loud, but still awesome.
( So, some random thoughts about the show in point form (coz its easier for my brain that way) )

Totes bored at work, so, I've gone into the archives and dragged out a meme or two.
One.
(from my last fifteen entries)

Two.
Step 1: Get your playlist together, put it on random, and play.
Step 2: Write down the first line from the first 20 songs that play or close to it.
Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song the lines come from.
Step 4:Cross out the songs (or similar) when someone guesses correctly. (screw that - just keep guessing and we can see who gets the most right :O) )
No cheating!! :O) Comments screened.

Look at your LJ userpics list. If you have fewer than 50 icons, pick every fifth one. If you have between fifty and seventy-five icons, pick every seventh one. If you have over seventy-five icons, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than ten, pick all of 'em. List them on your LJ, and tell everyone exactly why you have it, why it's interesting to you, what significance it has.

Part of me can't believe it. In some ways I thought Michael Jackson would be one of those people who would live forever. Yes, his personal life was a mess, but he was one of the most important musical performers from the last century. We grew up with his music always in the background. He was a pop icon, and will be missed.
Also, can someone please confirm whether or not the rumours that Jeff Golblum has died are correct? Apparantly the NZ police have issued a statement saying he died by falling from a cliff in NZ. [ETA: It's a hoax. Phew.]
This day is so surreal.
Also, I just tried to book tickets to Harry Potter. I'm going with my sis and her fiance - but he is going on call from that Friday for a week and so can't go to a movie during that time. And the two Thursday night sessions dont have three seats available (we are going to Gold Class). So it looks like I will miss out for a week. :O(
(also, in case you couldnt tell, I freaking love the pics released for Alice in Wonderland. it will be awesome)

Lady GaGa, in todays Herald Sun (bolding mine):
"My fashion is about the urban woman in the year 3000, when there is a ton of pollution and we all need to protect our bodies and cover up, because the air outside will acidise our skin. I think about obscure, weird things and try to create a world around them."
Really, Lady GaGa?? Then how come you are always either sans pants or sans a top??? LOL.
**
I didn't get to see Star Trek this weekend. Again. Damnit. I am having next Friday and Monday off (long weekend yay) because my study is due soon and I havent done much of it (eek) but damnit if we dont go next weekend I am going on the Monday by myself, study be damned.
**
Also, I have changed my layout. I had the previous one for a good few years and it was time for a change.
(also, I havent checked the flist in a couple of days - I am still catching up)

I went and saw Coldplay in concert last night.
We had earlier checked out the running sheet online so got there towards the end of the second support act, because the two support acts were no one we'd ever heard of before and didn't really care about seeing them. Luckily we were sitting at the aisle so we didn't have to try and find our way in the dark.
The concert was freaking awesome. I have heard from people who have seen them before how great they are live and I was not disappointed. They were energetic and enthusiastic, they utilised the space well and used the whole stage, they engaged the audience well and were really interesting and enthralling to watch. They're not as serious as you might think - on the contrart they were fun and silly even.
My personal highlights: Violet Hill, Lost, 42, Viva la Vida, In My Place, Cemetries of London, Fix You, Lovers in Japan. They played a mix of old and new, and the only old song I was disappointed not to hear was Trouble, which is one of my faves.
Okay, but to get to the point in my subject line. As I mentioned before I was sitting on the aisle. We were sitting on the side of the Arena, about three quarters along the stadium. When, during one of their songs, security people started draping tape along either side of the aisle (to keep it clear - stop people from going into the aisle) I started freaking out coz I had read in TheAge that they do a song from the back of the arena. Sure enough, at the end of that song, off the band went and ran down the end of the stadium. By this point everyone in our area realised that Coldplay were going to be walking up the aisle just near us. That's right people, I was five fucking centimetres away from Coldplay!!! Alas by the time they reached us (we were third row from the back in the lower section) everyone was getting a bit excited (including my friend standing next to me) and pushing forward a bit so I had to concentrate less on being five centimetres away from Coldplay and more on not falling into Coldplay.
All in all, it was a great concert. And now I am freaking tired. LOL.

I AM GOING TO SEE COLDPLAY!
When I heard they were coming out here I knew I wanted to see them - I have gotten onbaord the Coldplay train after years of loving their singles and buying their back catalogue over the last year or so. So I asked my sisters and my brothers girlfriend if anyone wanted to go ... and was totally shut down by them all. And to be honest I wasnt all that surprised.
Then, at work yesterday arvo, one of the guys here was talking about how excited he was to buy tickets today. I lamented my lack of anyone to go with so he invited me to go see it with him, and one of the teachers we work with.
So he bought tickets this morning and I am going and it will be awesome.
:O)
In other news, I have five work days left (not including today) and about ten days (not including today) until my holiday. Holy crap its really happening.
Eeeek.

1. Reply to this post and I'll assign you a letter.

**So many songs beginning with One, Only and Out. LOL. Yes, I accidently upladed six songs. Consider one a bonus. :O)

I promise the voicepost is coming soon! :O)
So, I dont watch American Idol, despite the Aussie contestant. But I just saw that someone performed the classic John Farnham 'You're The Voice' on it (and correct me if I'm wrong but it wasnt the Aussie singer). Wow. It was nowhere near as good as Johnny, but I thought my fellow Aussies might be interested to see it.
