So I got the Harry Potter DVD on the weekend and obviously straight away watched the movies and all the features and all that. Now, is it just me, or is HBP a dark film?? And no, I dont mean thematically, I mean it literally. As in some scenes it was so dark it was kinda hard to see what was going on. Or do I just have a crap tv??

Is it true that everywhere else dont get the DVD for a couple more weeks? Is it wrong that I'm slightly amused and happied that we get it so early? :O) Come on, we normally have to wait forever for most stuff so it's nice to get something early for once.

Watching the movie has made me want to re-read all the books. I haven't read them in a while. I think I might go back and read them all when I've finished reading my current book.

Also, on a semi-related note, I just watched the season finale of GNW. And because it made me LOL, I had to share this line from (22yo) comedian Josh Thomas that I think a lot of my flist will enjoy...

So it occured to me that I havent posted a non-fic/icon/moodtheme post in nearly a month. Possibly this is because I dont really have much going on to report. But just in case anyone out there is wondering, here is where I'm at:

* The estate where I am building my house have decided I need to put bricks above my garage door (as opposed to the painted wood panelling we were originally going with) which costs about $1100. Yeah, thanks for that. So not an expense I needed. But other than that, not much happening on the house front. Just waiting for the land to be released really.

* Melbourne heads for record November heat. I am already over summer and it hasnt even officially started yet. To make matters worse the aircon at home sometimes doesnt feel like working (in the mornings) and the parental units are away at the moment so no chance of getting it fixed if it completely brakes down. I hate hot weather - this is why one of the first things I have put on layby for my house is an aircon.

* Going bridesmaid dress shopping on the weekend. Could be ... interesting.

* Seeing Strassman tomorrow night!! Super excited.

* Bought tickets to go to Carols by Candlelight at the Myer Music Bowl on Christmas Eve with my mum and sis (and neice). The last time we went was a few years back and it was cold and actually rained quite a bit, and because we didnt go equipt for that kind of weather we ended up leaving before it even started and watching from home. Hopefully this year will be better - but not too hot. LOL.

* Not much to report, fandom wise. I've actually been rereading some of my fave Remus/Hermione fics (I havent read them in years) which has been kind of awesome.

Went and saw David Gray at Hamer Hall (the Arts Centre) last night.

It was awesome.

My sis and I were second row centre. Its slightly surreal being that close, and the accoustics are a bit weird (eg most of the sound was coming from speakers behind us even though he was about three metres in front of us), and it was kinda loud, but still awesome.

Well, brace yourselves everyone, because as far as announcements go this is one of the big ones.

Over the last six months I have been saving and researching and going through all the motions. Today I signed the last bit of paperwork so its all now confirmed and absolutely happening.

I am building a house.

I have never been more terrified in my entire life. I am doing it on my own, and I know it will be really hard, but it was kinda now or never.

People have been asking me all the way along if I'm excited and my reply is generally something along the lines of: "I'm 45% stressed, 45% terrified, 10% excited."

Anyway, it's three bedroom, two bathroom. My land is released in late November, construction should begin in December, with completion happening around May 2010, give or take.

Holy crap I am terrified.

If anyone wants to see the house layout let me know and I'll edit it into the post.
